I’d like you to meet a friend of mine. Evelyn has just turned 3. Like most kids her age, she loves bedtime stories, chicken noodle soup, and playing with her sisters. She can swing high on a swing, build a sandcastle, and talk to Cousin Bear. And, although she enjoys listening to her mommy and daddy sing to her, she likes singing along even more! Her best friends include: Bevelyn Bunny, Cousin Bear, and her two sisters.
Despite her joy of life, Evelyn is very ill. Evelyn has kidney disease, and is in urgent need of an immediate kidney transplant.
This is why I’m writing to you. As Evelyn’s friend, I’m one of a group of volunteers working with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association to raise funds in honor of Evelyn. And, we need your help in this effort.
At Evelyn’s young age, the impact of kidney disease is severe. Her little body struggles to grow and thrive as a two year old should. Sadly, she is already familiar with a daily regimen of shots and medications, frequent hospital visits and now, regular dialysis.
Thankfully, Evelyn’s transplant is scheduled for the end of October at Seattle Children’s. A single transplant alone can cost in excess of $500,000. Evelyn will likely need multiple transplants over the course of her life, and after each transplant, ongoing post-transplant medication and care. In this instance, her living donor is her father Keith, who is a small business owner with a window washing business in the Seattle area.
To help meet these needs and the lifetime of care ahead, we have a fundraising goal of $100,000. Our purpose in raising these funds is to help meet immediate needs and build the financial foundation to off-set transplant-related expenses. Your gift will enable a kid like my friend Evelyn to keep fighting and live a thriving, happy life.
Would you consider joining us in this effort? No amount is too small, and every donation will help with transplant-related expenses.
Sincerely,
The COTA Volunteer Team for Evelyn S
